Beginner Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a martial art that utilizes gentle, flowing movements to enhance health in the body and the mind. It began centuries ago as a fighting style but has evolved from a fighting style into “movement meditation”. These gentle movements are easy on the joints and provide many proven physical benefits such as improving balance, reducing the risk of falls, lowering blood pressure, improving sleep quality and lowering stress and anxiety. Tai Chi has also been proven to have a positive impact on brain health.
In these 6 classes, 45 minutes each, you will learn and practice the 24 postures in the Yang style short form. Videos will be provided so that you can practice at home. Taught by Shelley Turk, Functional Aging Specialist and Certified OTD to Tai Chi Instructor.
